The primary mission of NILMDTS is to provide grieving parents, who have lost a child at birth or whose newborn may have died as a result of having been removed from life support, with heirloom quality photographs of their child - taken by a professional photographer. At the parent’s request, a local volunteer photographer from our community will provide a free photography session at your facility to capture these last precious moments.
For families overcome by grief and pain, the idea of photographing their baby may not immediately occur to them. This is where Now I lay me down to sleep gently provides a helping hand and a healing heart. NILMDTS offers a vital service to our communities. Offering gentle and beautiful photography services in a compassionate and sensitive manner is the heart of this organization. The soft, gentle heirloom photographs of these beautiful babies are an important part of the healing process. They allow families to honor and cherish their babies, and share the spirits of their lives.
At no charge to the mother and father, the parents will receive a high resolution cd with the images captured that day. In addition, they will receive a DVD with those images set to music.
I am one of over 3000 photographers nation wide who participates as a volunteer with NILMDTS. Specifically, I am a volunteer in my community.
As well as providing photo memories, Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep provides support to grieving parents. This is done by means of an on-line forum. The forum is open to parents, professional caregivers, as well as others. Parents who have received this service have felt it to be extremely helpful in the healing process.
I encourage you to visit our web site, www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org and view the touching videos available, as well as the “baby books” placed on line by some of our parents. The site is full of information that can help further answer some of your questions as well.
Sincerely,
Heather Dunn
